On a vile day of squally showers and low cloud we had an astonishing turn out of 18 players.

Among these stalwarts were our two oldest members, Steve and Jim, whose participation was greeted with great cheers.

Our day got even better when Steve came second in our Stableford with 19 points and, as he announced, on his 93rd birthday. What a remarkable man - we are lost in admiration of his enjoyment of his golf at his age and that he still manages to stroll round and bound up the stairs after his round.

But let that not detract from our today's winner, Ian Quigley with 20 points. Steve just managed to beat Chris Malcolm on countback for his second place. Ian is making an excellent recovery from his recent injuries.

Graham Mackie was nearest at the 7th and converted his tee shot for a fine birdie.
