Results and chat 6th April

Brian Boyter kindly took some time out from his busy first week as Club Secretary to introduce himself to the group. He thanked the 'boys' for their continued support of the club and was very positive in his thoughts for the club's future.

20 players returned scores with Brian Robson taking first place on 21 points. Melvin Cannell and Ian Tate both returned 19 points, Melvin taking second place on countback. Ian, however, returned the only birdie at 9 while George Langlands was nearest at 7 for the second week in a row.

Two new players, Richard Leeson and Allan Young, joined the group.

Congratulations to John Napier and his good lady on their Diamond Wedding-the appropriate bag of Celebration sweets was much appreciated John.

Results for 30th March

23 players assembled for the last comp of the winter. Tricky conditions were reflected in several scores in [low] single figures. This did not stop our eldest TAM Steve Baczkowski from taking the honours with 18 points which included a birdie at 7-not bad for a 90+ year old! Youngster Brian Robson was second with 16 points while George Langlands was nearest the pin at 7.

Many are looking forward to the handicap increase of 5 effective from next week.

Results for March 2nd

19 players ventured forth. On his first TAMS outing Mike Rowse returned 20 points to take the honours [handicap assessment?] with Brian Robson coming second on 17 points. David Forsyth was nearest at 7.

It is proposed that all handicaps will be adjusted +5 for the new summer season in April. The cap will still be 27.

Unfortunately Jim Pettigrew had a heavy fall coming down the 8th fairway. This resulted in a visit to Borders A & E on Friday because of severe leg pain.

Fortunately nothing was broken but there was some impressive bruising. Appropriate medicine was dispensed and a pair of crutches issued. No golf for a while but no doubt a lot of rugby will be watched by the former Currie RFC captain.

Results for February 23rd

On a glorious sunny morning 14 of us enjoyed the conditions and played a little better than in previous weeks with 9 of us making double figures.

It was close at the top with Wilson Struthers edging out the rest on 14 points.

Jim Pettigrew was second on 13 points after a six-hole countback.

David Wallace celebrated his 75th birthday with a rather nice shot to be nearest at the 7th.

Results for February 9th

On a dull and dank morning 14 TAMS stalwarts took the field.

The greens have begun to look pretty good already though the muddy fairways made it rather hard work as there is no run at all.

Nevertheless Keith Ackerman made short work of it and was a clear winner with 16 points.

Sandy Macfarlane was all on his own in second place with 13 points but only 6 players made double figures.

Roger Key was nearest for a while some 120 feet from the pin at the 7th but was pipped at the post by Bill Hardcastle who was rather nearer the pin.

The clamour for handicap adjustments is growing!!

Results for 2nd February

13 souls decided to brave a poor weather forecast only to find very challenging [wet] course conditions. A record number returned points in single figures. Chris Beaumont returned an impressive 15 points, given the conditions, to take first place with Sandy Macfarlane coming second on 14 points. Roger Key was nearest the pin at 7 his ball having struck the pin.


TAMS stalwart ,Warner Hardie , visiting from Craigentiney was made welcome and was one of the few who scored more than 10 points.

Results for 12th January

15 players endured some showers and a cold wind.

Course is in good condition despite the recent rain we have had.


Ken Davey was in good form scoring 15 points ( off a TAMS handicap of 3 )  which included the only birdie of the morning at the 9 th hole.

Ken now has a TAMS handicap of one. Well done Ken.

November 24 Results

17 souls braved a threatening forecast to find conditions were quite benign. Underfoot however was a different story with extensive muddy areas requiring careful foot [and ball] placement. Scoring was generally poor but Callum Orr rose to the occasion returning 16 points with David Forsyth taking second on 14 points. There were no birdies and no drives made the green at the 7th.

Menu requirements for the Xmas lunch are now being taken with next Thursday being the deadline for bookings.

Results for 3rd November

A glorious sunny autumn day saw 20 starters in pleasant conditions despite the previous day's heavy rain.

The weather however did little to encourage our players and the TAMS veil of discretion is drawn over the scores of most of the players.

Our newest recruit, John Varney, triumphed again and was a clear winner on 18 points.

David Wallace and David Forsyth tied for second on 15 points and David Forsyth won easily on the countback.

Ken Davey was the only man who could reach the green from the winter tee and was therefore nearest the pin.

Results for 27th October

A pleasant autumn morning encouraged 20 players out [despite the forecast]. Our newest recruit, John Varney, returned 20 points to take 1st place-questions being asked of the handicap committee! George Cunningham came second with 15 points with Richard Edmonds being nearest the pin at 7.

The club has accepted Ken Bowie's generous gift of a nearly new [never used] Motocaddy electric trolley. Ken had to stop playing shortly after buying the trolley and never had the opportunity to use it. The trolley will be available to hire by visitors and members. Well played Ken!

The Xmas lunch is confirmed for 8th December in the clubhouse.
