Winter Stableford Update
/Winter Stableford Members Survey
Thank you to all members who submitted a response to our Winter Stableford survey. After careful consideration and discussion the committee have agreed to retain the winter stableford series as non-handicap counting, although the intention is to run with an unofficial handicap over the winter period going forward. We are looking for volunteers to form a group to help assist with the design and operation of this process, so if you are able to spare some time please do get in touch.
Although there was a slight preference from the survey towards running the winter series as handicap counting, it was felt that there was not a sufficiently large enough swing of opinion from the current position. However, as the winter yellow tees are officially measured, members can now record General Play rounds throughout the off season, and new members will be able to obtain an official handicap by putting in their required cards.
The local 'Lift and Rake' in bunkers rule will remain but there is going to be a change to balls coming to rest in semi-rough - this will now be 'Lift and Drop' rather than 'Lift and Place'. Fairways will remain as preferred lies and mats will continue to be allowed on fairways. Although not mandatory, we do encourage members to use mats on the fairway if possible over the winter to help protect the course.
Winter rules and the new handicap process will be made available nearer the start of the Winter Stableford Series and a summary report from the member survey, including all comments received, can be found in the link above.
