Announcement of New Catering Team

As members will be aware, the Club has been operating without a caterer since early September and the Board has been working hard in the background to find a suitable replacement. We are delighted to announce that an agreement has now been reached with a new catering business owned by Vicki Sealey and Karen Crawford, who will start with us ahead of the new season in March.

Vicki and Karen currently run the Riverside Café, based within the Vale Club in Innerleithen, building up an excellent reputation within the local market for serving hearty pub grub at good value prices. They have developed strong lunchtime trade, while also supporting the Vale Club’s evening events. The team are keen to expand their business and our own catering requirements are a good match for their skillset, which shone through in our discussions.

Rather than commence a new catering service at Peebles Golf Club during the quieter winter off-season, both parties have agreed that the optimum time to start would be March 2022, giving us time to plan and prepare, before hitting the ground running for the full golf season ahead. This will provide the new team with the opportunity to establish a viable business for our members, visitors and other guests, and a pipeline of social events through the season and into the off-season.

In the meantime, we are delighted that Vicki and Karen will be available to support events in the clubhouse over the next few months, whether these are arranged internally or externally. They have already provided catering for a funeral reception at the club and are lined up to support our Burns Night on Saturday 22 January (look out for ticket information in due course). Should you wish to discuss holding a social event at the Club between now and March where catering is required, please get in touch with the office.

Club captain Gavin Carruthers said: “We are delighted to have Vicki, Karen and their team coming on board and looking forward to working them to provide an excellent service for members and visitors alike. They have proved very popular in Innerleithen and the menu options they presented to us were an ideal fit for what we are looking for, to meet the needs of golfers and others coming to the club.

“The clubhouse is a great venue within Peebles for eating and socialising and we are confident that the new team can generate increased traffic, with a range of food that our members will really enjoy. I would encourage you to give Vikki and Karen your full support when they take up the role in March, and please let your friends and family know we are open for business.

“We want the clubhouse to be a busy, thriving venue, and with the fantastic service being provided by Calum and the bar team, we believe that Peebles Golf Club can be one of the best destinations in the town.”

Between now and the new team starting, Calum, Freda and Klaudia will continue to serve a variety of hot pies, sandwiches and cakes from the bar, and we are delighted to see the pies in particular proving a very popular 19th hole bite!
