Results for December 5th
/21 TAMS appreciated a less severe winter's morning than recently experienced. Runaway winner with 22 points was John Cairns. Initially it was thought that 3 players were tied on 17 points for second place but a handicap check put Graham Fairclough on 18 for second place. Graham Mackie was nearest at 7.
A good turnout is expected for next week's Xmas lunch when the year's trophy winners will be confirmed.
Results for Nov 28th
/Despite freezing temperatures and a hard frost 22 players braved the challenge of winter golf in Peebles.
Gordon Fisher had 21 points for second place and a birdie at the 4 th.
Jim Douglas had 22 points for first place.
Chris Malcolm and Graham Mackie both had birdies at the 5 th.

George Langlands- Master of the conditions!
/Despite freezing temperatures and hard frosts over the last 2 days 10 souls braved the challenge of winter golf in Peebles. Skill will out ,however, reflected in Gordon Fisher's 20 points for second place and George Langlands' 21 points for first [including a blob at 7 ]. Graham Mackie had a small birdie at 9 having just failed for the big one!
Carlos Maeso seemed to enjoy his first, somewhat frosty, TAMS outing.
Results for November 14th
/The TAMS teed off in Autumn sunshine as a sea of fog enveloped the town below. A widespread hoar frost coupled with fallen leaves and the low sun angle made ball finding difficult. This was reflected in low scores-13 points being a popular return. Two of our most recent members, however, rose to the occasion, Jimmy Mair taking second place from Ian Tate and Keith Ackerman after countback with 15 points while Willie Waters took first with 16 points.
Brian Taylor was nearest the pin at 7.
Results for 7th November
/A pleasant Autumn morning encouraged 26 players to the course. A heavy dew presented a bit of a challenge with several single figure returns being blamed on poor putting.
This did not deter Roger Key ,however, who scored 22 points for first place closely followed by Ian Tate on 20 points. Roger was also nearest at the 7th. Birdies there were none.
31 October
/27 players conveniently formed 9 teams of 3 for the Ian Tate scramble. The result will be announced at the Xmas lunch but it was quite clear that everyone enjoyed the format.
Sandy Morris's 80th birthday was duly recognised and Bob from Royal Liverpool was given an appropriate welcome to his first TAMS experience.
This year's sponsorship of £400 for the Peebles juniors was confirmed.
Results and news 24th October
/No Putter comp was played today.
Only scores that counted were puts on the Green which were carried out by any other club except the putter.
Results will be divulged during the Christmas lunch.
Ian Tate had a birdie on the 5th and Brian Robson had a birdie on the 9th.
Ken Davies was nearest the pin.
Bob Bennett, a new member will be taking part in the scramble next week.
Congratulations to David Wallace who has become a grandfather again ( baby boy ).
Results for 10th October
/The first fairly hard frost of the Autumn did not deter some 24 TAMS from playing. The sandy/tined greens made putting a challenge. Chris Malcolm and Ian Tate tied on 16 points, Chris taking second place after countback. Graham Mackie took first with 18 points. Chris also birdied 5 and 7 while Graeme Murray birdied 9 and Drew Lowe took nearest the pin honours at 7.
We plan to play for the JF Putter in 2 weeks time [no putters allowed], and the IT Scramble the following week.
Our Xmas lunch is booked for Thursday the 12th in the clubhouse.
Results for 3rd October
/The forecast fog/mist did not materialise resulting in a pleasant, calm Autumn morning. The tineing of the greens presented the main challenge with balls taking some interesting routes to the holes.
A record 6 players tied on 14 points for second place, Steve Farrar succeding after several countbacks. David Little was first with 15 points maintaining a decent run of form while Graham Mackie was nearest at 7.
Results for September 26th
/A wet start coupled with an away seniors match saw only 12 players braving the conditions. There is something about hitting 80 years which seems to inspire good golf. This week Chris Beaumont repeated Jim Pettigrew's achievement of last week by winning on the week of his 80th birthday with 16 points. Youngster David Little was second with 15 points. No nearest the pin was claimed.
The JF Putter has been postponed until we can boost the number of players with the return of the senior match players.
Results for September 19th and Happy Birthday Jim Pettigrew!
/Early morning mist created some uncertainty if or when play might commence. The JF Putter competition was therefore postponed and a normal stableford substituted.
Play commenced at 9.50 and 3 groups of 4 and 2 of 3 were organised to avoid compromising the Lady's Open due to follow.
The mist cleared to another superb autumn morning very much enjoyed by Jim Pettigrew who returned 21 points, including 2 four pointers. Alister Lambie was second after a countback with George Langlands both scoring 18 points.
Birdies were recorded by Alister and David Ward Gittos at 4, and by Graham Mackie at 7 who was inches from an ace.
Jim Pettigrew was presented with a bottle of bubbles for his 80th birthday. Several ladies who were playing in the Open joined in the applause and were quite vocal in their encouragement for the players and the birthday boy!
Results for September 12th
/18 players braved a chilly but calm start to the morning. The course conditions are not easy at the moment reflected in quite a few low scores. Chris Malcolm returned 16 points to claim first place and new handicap of 4. Willie Waters and Richard Edmonds both returned 15 points with Willie taking second place after countback. Brian Robson was nearest at 7.
We play for the JF Putter next week the main rule being that on the putting surface you can use any club except a putter. Adds to the fun!
Results for September 5th
/Although a pleasant morning weather wise the course was playing long following recent wet conditions. Hence several single figure returns.
Keith Ackerman was first with 20 points closely followed by Alister Lambie on 19. Gordon Innes was nearest at the 7th.
We will play for the JF Putter on the 19th.
Results for August 29th
/TAMS on 29th August
24 gentleman played in pleasant weather, dry with very little wind. Ken Davey continued his fine form of last week, scoring 20 points off a handicap of 8, and also getting nearest the pin at the 7th. Ian Quigley was second on 18 points. Roger Key had a birdie again, this time at the 5th.
Results for August 22nd
/23 players took part.
Inclement weather for early starters soon improved with wind and some sunshine.
Ken Davy was in 2nd place with 19 points.
David Little took 1st place with 23 points.
Ken Davy also was nearest the pin and had a birdie at the 5th hole.
Roger Key had a birdie at the 9 th hole.
15th August
/13 players ignored the weather forecast and encountered a much more pleasant morning than forecast. The winner was Jimmy Mair with 20 points, closely followed by Graeme Murray on 19 points. Drew Lowe celebrated his second outing as a TAM by being nearest the pin at 7 and converting the birdie .
Everyone has been shocked by the sudden death of Sandy Macfarlane. A true Scottish gentleman who will be sorely missed.
Report for August 1st
/There was a good turnout of 25 players to compete for the Ken Bowie Salver the result of which is announced at the Xmas lunch.
Birdies were recorded by Gordon Innes and Ken Davie, both at the 5th. Roger Key was nearest at 7.
Drew Lowe was made welcome by the group.
No TAMS next week because of the Peebles Senior Open.
Results for July 25th
/Numbers were depleted as several TAMS were playing in the senior's match against Craigielaw. Of the 13 who did play Gordon Innes returned 17 points to take 1st closely followed by Steve Farrar on 16 points. Initially it was thought that Graham Mackie was nearest at 7 but this was corrected in favour of Jimmy Mair.
Next week is a 5 club competition playing for the Ken Bowie Salver.
