18 players appreciated a quiet weather morning although scoring proved to be a challenge. Several scored 11 or 12 points while 2 were tied on 13 points, David Forsyth taking the honours on countback from George Langlands. Birdies there were none and no one managed to hit the green at 7.
On a dull and dank morning 14 TAMS stalwarts took the field.
The greens have begun to look pretty good already though the muddy fairways made it rather hard work as there is no run at all.
Nevertheless Keith Ackerman made short work of it and was a clear winner with 16 points.
Sandy Macfarlane was all on his own in second place with 13 points but only 6 players made double figures.
Roger Key was nearest for a while some 120 feet from the pin at the 7th but was pipped at the post by Bill Hardcastle who was rather nearer the pin.
The clamour for handicap adjustments is growing!!
13 souls decided to brave a poor weather forecast only to find very challenging [wet] course conditions. A record number returned points in single figures. Chris Beaumont returned an impressive 15 points, given the conditions, to take first place with Sandy Macfarlane coming second on 14 points. Roger Key was nearest the pin at 7 his ball having struck the pin.
TAMS stalwart ,Warner Hardie , visiting from Craigentiney was made welcome and was one of the few who scored more than 10 points.
20 players enjoyed a pleasant winter's morning weatherwise though the challenge from the course was reflected in several low single figure scores. Bill Hardcastle took the honours with 16 points, which included a birdie at 4.. David Forsyth and Brian Robson returned 15 points with David taking the countback. There was no nearest the pin at 7.
15 players endured some showers and a cold wind.
Course is in good condition despite the recent rain we have had.
Ken Davey was in good form scoring 15 points ( off a TAMS handicap of 3 ) which included the only birdie of the morning at the 9 th hole.
Ken now has a TAMS handicap of one. Well done Ken.

16 players turned up for our first play of the year on a pleasant morning compared to recent events.
Scoring was quite tight, Brian Robson returning 17 points to take first from Ian Tate on 16 points.
No birdies were recorded with David Wallace taking nearest the pin at 7.
12 players enjoyed good conditions with no wind or rain. Course is in good condition following the recent snow and frost.
Steve Farrar was in good form scoring 19 points which included the only birdie of the morning at the 5th hole.
Brian Robson and Melvin Cannell tied on 13 points, Brian taking the countback.

19 players enjoyed a fog and frost free morning. John Varney maintained good form returning 17 points to win for the third time in 5 weeks.
Ken Davey and Steve Baczkowski tied on 14 points, Ken taking the countback. Graham Mackie birdied 4 while Brian Robson was nearest at 7.
Next week's Xmas lunch is eagerly anticipated.
17 souls braved a threatening forecast to find conditions were quite benign. Underfoot however was a different story with extensive muddy areas requiring careful foot [and ball] placement. Scoring was generally poor but Callum Orr rose to the occasion returning 16 points with David Forsyth taking second on 14 points. There were no birdies and no drives made the green at the 7th.
Menu requirements for the Xmas lunch are now being taken with next Thursday being the deadline for bookings.

A glorious sunny autumn day saw 20 starters in pleasant conditions despite the previous day's heavy rain.
The weather however did little to encourage our players and the TAMS veil of discretion is drawn over the scores of most of the players.
Our newest recruit, John Varney, triumphed again and was a clear winner on 18 points.
David Wallace and David Forsyth tied for second on 15 points and David Forsyth won easily on the countback.
Ken Davey was the only man who could reach the green from the winter tee and was therefore nearest the pin.
A pleasant autumn morning encouraged 20 players out [despite the forecast]. Our newest recruit, John Varney, returned 20 points to take 1st place-questions being asked of the handicap committee! George Cunningham came second with 15 points with Richard Edmonds being nearest the pin at 7.
The club has accepted Ken Bowie's generous gift of a nearly new [never used] Motocaddy electric trolley. Ken had to stop playing shortly after buying the trolley and never had the opportunity to use it. The trolley will be available to hire by visitors and members. Well played Ken!

Early starters encountered a very cold mist which fortunately cleared away fairly quickly to a sunny autumn morning. Scoring however was distinctly mediocre. Richard Edmonds was first returning 16 points. 6 players were tied for second on 14 points with Eric Ward taking the countback. Steve Farrar and David Forsyth were inseparable for nearest at 7 .Steve graciously giving way to David.
George Langlands returned the only birdie at 9.
For October we will be returning to cash for days played. This will start next week ie £3 for those who played the 6th, 13th and 20th.
I will confirm the number of days credit to individuals who have overpaid.
A sunny Autumn morning [unlike last week's monsoon] welcomed 19 players all with different strategies to win the John Forsyth Putting Trophy-the player with the least number of putts wins. Interesting to see how many approach shots to the green from under 50 yards still do not make the putting surface! The winner is announced at the Xmas lunch.
The only birdie was recorded by George Cunningham at 5 while Steve Farrar was nearest at 7.
Despite reasonable forecasting for the morning, our intention to compete for the John Forsyth Putter was resoundingly defeated by relentless rain.
An attempt to run a stableford competition for those brave enough to venture out failed dismally as we were not 'quorate', although there were five indomitable starters.
We will try again next Thursday with our fingers crossed!!
Eight rather bedraggled souls made it round on the worst day we have had for many weeks.
Despite the weather we saw a spirited performance from Chris Beaumont who gave a master class in driving and then hit maybe the shot of the year with a 6-iron second on the 4th which cleared that awful bunker and finished about 6-feet from the pin.
Despite two rather forgetful holes Chris won with 16 points and Graham Mackie holed out well to finish with 15 points.
Gordon Fisher was nearest at the 7th.
On the 29thnext week, we will compete for the John Forsyth Putter.
Let's see a good turnout for this fun competition.

On a sombre but sunny Autumn morning eleven of us enjoyed pleasant conditions.
Several were away up in Scotland visiting Ronnie Watt, a much loved former player and we were also well represented in the Seniors match at Minto.
Our winner was Callum Orr with 19 points despite a horror story down the 9th and Bill Hardcastle was second with 15 points.

Bill is now off to visit family in Oz along with Sandy Macfarlane who is already there.
We also welcomed to our ranks Bob Kibble, another from the professional teaching fraternity.
Despite the Ladies competition next Thursday we are still able to play as the Ladies do not start until later.
Another reminder that on Thursday 29th September we will compete for the John Forsyth Putter,
a much anticipated event with players already trying to work out how to minimise their putting strokes.
A pleasant Autumn morning encouraged 20 players out. Scoring ranged, however, from 5 points to 20 points reflecting the wet conditions ,particularly in the semi rough. Alistair Lambie was the winner on 20 points closely followed by new member, David Ward Gittos, on 19 points. It was good to see a rejuvenated David Wallace return 17 points over 7 holes -if only David.
Birdies were recorded by Ian Tate at 4 and George Cunningham at 5. Chris Beaumont was nearest at 7.
We will be playing for the JF Putter on 29th September.

A beautiful autumn morning with the course in excellent condition proved somewhat challenging to 21 players.
The best scores were returned by Keith Ackerman and Jim Pettigrew, both with 18 points, Keith winning on countback.
Brian Robson birdied 9 and George Langlands birdied 7. Ken Davey was nearest at 7.
George Langlands confirmed that £400 would be transferred from TAMS account to the club for this year's sponsorship.
George also advised that Ken Bowie wished to sell his UNUSED Motocaddy Si, with the proceeds going to the Golf Club.
